Piacenza, 9 June, 2021 – With 16 charging stations for electric vehicles already active and another 28 in the activation phase, the Municipality of Piacenza has completed a forward-looking program of electrification of the territory thanks to the contribution of Be Charge, a leading company in the electric mobility sector that currently has over 4,500 charging points on the national territory accessible through the appropriate smartphone app.
The Municipality of Piacenza and Be Charge have concluded a special agreement for the construction of a charging network available to plug-in electric and hybrid vehicles that will consist of 37 Quick columns (22 + 22 kW) and 5 Fast columns (22 + 75 + 75 kW), plus a further 2 Quick columns intended for municipal administration vehicles. Each column can recharge 2 plug-in electric/hybrid vehicles at the same time and for this purpose, parking areas have been specifically built on their sides characterized by the appropriate horizontal and vertical signs intended exclusively for the parking of vehicles on charging. Be Charge will manage and maintain the entire network for 8 years, without charges to the Municipality.
This is a further piece in the broader framework of actions that the Administration is putting in place in the dissemination of sustainable mobility and the fight against pollution – comments the Councillor for the Environment, Parks, Civil Protection, Mobility and Services to citizens Paolo Mancioppi – Only during this first part of the year, electric mobility recorded an increase in registrations of 405% in Emilia-Romagna compared to two years ago, confirming an impressive growth trend-driven, rightly, by a mature sensitivity towards the environment that surrounds us. Thanks to the extensive project developed with Be Charge, we intend to facilitate the spread of mobility that provides a positive response to urban air and noise pollution problems»
The peninsula cover project undertaken by Be Charge proceeds incessantly. Between April and May 311 new charging points were activated throughout Italy from Aosta to Pordenone, from Sulmona (L’Aquila) to Aprilia (Latina), from Galatone (Lecce) to Rimini to Naples.
“Our development plan – commented Roberto Colicchio, Head of Business Development at Be Charge – is ambitious: we plan to install about 30,000 charging points throughout the country in the next 3-5 years that will deliver 100% energy from renewable sources, for a total investment of more than 150 million euros. We are already well on the way with over 4,500 charging points installed and as many already authorized. We are happy to have added to our already very widespread network an important city like Piacenza as part of the zero-emission mobility development program that the municipal administration is pursuing as its forward-looking choices. We are available to other municipalities that want to equip their territory with state-of-the-art charging infrastructures for electric vehicles and integrated into a European network like ours.”
